Mixed Media Graffiti style Tutorial

Hi There!
This month I created a fun tutorial on how to use different mediums to achieve a Graffiti style background. It was on the blog at My Creative Scrapbook a few days ago.
Are you interested in having a play with different mediums but unsure of where to start?  This step by step tutorial is a great way to try it out & give something different a go!  This is how I created the grungy/graffiti style background on this page.

First of all you will need these supplies

This is a 12x12 Crafters Workshop Chevron mask template. you don't need a 12x12 size though you can use smaller. Other patterns that would help create the same effect are bricks, waves, swirls etc

-Gesso
-Texture Paste
-Dark Blue Mist (Tattered Angels Saphire)
-Light Blue Mist (Generic from my LSS)
-Black ink (Versa Magic Midnight Black)
-Dark Brown Ink (Versa Colour Pinecone)
-Bright/Dark Yellow (Prima Coltsfoot)
-Navy Blue Ink (Prima Farmer Jeans)
-Teal Ink (Prima Teal Damask)
-Stamp (Kaisercraft grid stamp)

I have done this tutorial on come cardstock so you can see the texture paste better.  For my page I used the We R Memory Keepers paper from the Main Kit.

First up use your fingers or a popcycle stick & rub some texture paste in 2 areas.  I have done the top right hand corner & bottom left hand corner.  Try not to be perfect when applying.  It is better to get an uneven look.  Let the texture paste dry.

Get your Dark Blue mist & undo the nozzle.  Flick the spray nozzle onto the page so that it leaves splat marks

Now take out your Light Blue Mist & spray randomly around the page

Use the Teal & Yellow inks. Roughly smudge some ink over the texture paste

Use the black ink & stamp the grid patterns on top of the texture paste

Use the Dark Brown ink & roughly ink around the edges of the cardstock/paper

If you have a go at this I would LUV to see it!!

I feel the earth move.......

Hi There!

Well didn't we have some excitement in my little neck of the woods this week!! Tuesday night I experienced my first ever Earth Quake!! It was only a little one 5.2 on the scale but I must honestly say I crapped myself when it started! We had no damage & it was over in like 40 seconds but it has been the talk of the town all week LOL!

Anyway I am finally getting around to sharing a couple of pages I did at retreat. The first one is for Once Upon A Sketch. The them this month is birthdays. I decided to focus on how much I enjoy the fact that Kayla & I celebrate our birthdays close together

I have used the May LE kit from My Creative Scrapbook which was full of Websters Pages Everyday Poetry

I luv this felt Prima flower. It was one of my fav Prima flower releases for this CHA

This next page was just because using the same Le kit

Evie is no quite 2 & she is such a little character! Whenever I am asked if she is a good girl I describe her as having a free spirit! We have nicknamed her Evil Evie & she definately keeps us on our toes but I wouldn't have it any other way! She always makes us laugh & she dances & sings around the house. She luvs One Direction (eek I know!) & Carly Rae Jepsen Call Me Maybe & can already sing the chorus of their songs which totally cracks me up!

I have a couple more shares form retreat that I will get to soon!

Thanks for looking!

How AWESOME is that prize!!!!!!

Here are some pages I created with the BEAUTIFUL Limited Edition Kit which was full of Pink Paislee London Market. Perfect for scrapping my Brother & SIL's wedding pics!

I used a Prima flourish stamp to create a border. Then used some of the ephemera & button spools along with some Prima goodness that all comes in the kit

Amanda was such a stunning bride! To create the die cut page I simply used an old die cut sheet of paper & traced the shape then cut it out. I then inked the edges & use Liquid pearls
I luv the pink & duck egg blue colours in this collection!
& finally I got around to scrapping a couple of pics from my trip to London back in 98!

Here is the LE Kit

Prima Sun Kiss- MCS Reveal Day!

Hi There!

Yay it's reveal day at My Creative Scrapbook. Extra exciting for me cos it is my very first reveal! Click on the link to check out the amazing DT Gallery. So much gorgeous inspiration!

The June Main kit is full of Prima gorgeousness featuring the Sun Kiss collection with some We Are Memory Keepers also.

I luv this pic of Kayla & it conveniently matches the papers really well (don't u luv when that happens!)

Kayla on her first day of kindy earlier this year!
The lace in the kit was so pretty. I used one of the note cards as a frame on this page

I luved that the kit was so versatile & that it also suits boy pages. I had some fun playing with texture paste, mist & stamps to create a graffiti style background

I thought this title suited Hunter at the moment. He will be 7 in September & the attitude has really started to creep in!

There are lots of exciting things happening at MCS. 2 new add on kits are being released. A Dusty Attic Kit & a Mixed Media kit. More details here. Also details for the Prima contest coming very soon!

I will be back soon with the beautiful LE kit!
